"On Saturday, the president, Marie was a little discouraged by a smaller turnout than usual, but at the end of the day she was sure this was the best meeting they have had so far.""Aglow Love Your Neighbor" Coordinator Fay Hill
Dear LYNs,
This is probably going to be a long e-mail message, but I want to include everything that happened at our Flemington Aglow Meeting and Prayer Walk last Saturday.
First of all, the Lord gave us a beautiful day to go out and walk. The worship team, Keepers of the Flame, opened our meeting in an anointed time of praise and worship. This team is led by Roseanne Gervasi a gifted musician who I have known in Aglow from back in 1981. Roseanne stands before a music stand with nothing on it but an open Bible and as she plays the guitar, God gives her the words and the music and the other musicians follow along. It is wonderful. On Saturday, she only had the percussionist with her, and they gave us a great start for the meeting.
I spoke to the women about prayer walking. I had gotten a testimony from a church planting pastor telling how he prayer walked in building up his church and I was able to make an outline out of his testimony. However, when I got up to speak, for some reason unknown to me, I didn't use the outline but just told a few stories about prayer walking. Then we explained to the women how we would prayer walk and asked those who would like to go out to come forward and asked the others to please stay at the cafe and intercede for us. Earlier in the morning, I had driven around the neighborhood to see where we would prayer walk. I chose Brown Street which intersects with the Connections Book Store and Cafe where we held our meeting. We decided that we would use 2 teams on that street, one on each side of the street. There was another small street, Grant Street, that connected with Brown Street and another team covered that street. So we had 3 teams of 2 people and the others stayed back to intercede.
I made up some doorknob hangers, that informed the people in the neighborhood that we had prayed for them and also gave some information about Aglow on the back. I had them printed on yellow card stock, since the forsythias are all in bloom now in New Jersey and we thought the bright yellow was a good spring color for this month. We instructed the women to pray for each house and then to hang the doorknob hanger on the doorknob of the house. I have attached a copy of the doorknob hangers to this e-mail for your information.
Meanwhile, back at the cafe, the musicians were interceding with their music and other women were also praying for us.
When we got back to the cafe, the team members were just glowing with that special glow that people have when they have been with Jesus. Witnessing does that for people. Every team had an encounter with at least one person and here are their reports.
1. I was with our Area President and we did one side of Brown Street. Almost every house on that block had daffodils growing in the front yard. When I see daffodils, I think of little megaphones shouting out that "Jesus is Lord".We prayed and hung doorknob hangers at each house on our side of the street and then crossed over to finish up the other side so that team could go over to Grant Street and help the third team. At the very last house, a man came out and sat in a chair. We told him what we were doing and asked him if he needed prayer for anything. He said he did and asked us to pray for his legs, as he had suffered a major heart attack and stroke which left him walking with a cane. He told us he has 15 grandchildren. A 19 year old grandaughter lives with them and he and his wife watch her little 4 year old son so she can work. Please pray for this teenaged single mom as raises this boy, and that the little boy will grow up to be a man of God.
2. The next team. to come in, led by the local president, were very excited that they were able to pray for three people. First they encountered a man and woman with their mother. The woman asked for prayer because she has lost her job. After prayer, this woman cried and told them that nobody has ever prayed for her before. Then they met a muslim woman and prayed with her. Then, they saw a man just standing in his garage staring. They said to him, "You look like you might need some prayer." He said he did and told them that he had lost his wife, his job and his car, all in one month. After they prayed for him he told them he was an architect and designer of churches.
3. The last team, led by our NJ SPC, also had a wonderful encounter with a woman in great need. First they saw a little boy who asked them what they were doing and they asked him if he would give the doorknob hanger to his mother. Then they noticed that he had no arms, but he tucked the paper into his armpit and off he went to give it to his mom. Then they met a woman who told them she has a brain tumor. Our ladies prayed for her and then asked her to come back to the cafe so that all of the ladies could pray for her. She did come back with her little boy, and when we prayed for her, she cried. She had aught against the church because of past hurts. Laurie, our SPC, stood in for the church and asked for her forgiveness. She said she would forgive. Then we all backed off and Laurie dealt with her on a personal level. Please pray for this woman, named Arlene and her little boy, Morgan. She also has several other children.
All in all, we felt it was a very good day. Flemington Aglow is a re-start Aglow. Our SPC has been holding meetings to try to restore this lighthouse for a couple of years. They now have a president who is approved and are working to get a treasurer and other leaders to get this community lighthouse going again. On Saturday, the president, Marie was a little discouraged by a smaller turnout than usual, but at the end of the day she was sure this was the best meeting they have had so far. As for me, I do feel that I brought the LYN message to the grass roots. Please pray with me that other lighthouses in New Jersey will catch the vision and want to have meetings like this. I believe that LYN is the hope for Aglow in New Jersey.
God bless, Fay Hill
